The Benefits and Uses of CBD Oil

A short read on what CBD oil is and why you should be using it

Lately, you’ve probably been hearing a ton about CBD products.

CBD this, CBD that.

It’s all over the TV, in magazines, on social media. Celebrities are using it, social media influencers, and athletes everywhere are using it.

But what is CBD?

Cannabidiol, the long name for CBD, is one of the chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. This oil is found naturally in the two main types of cannabis plants, the Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Sativa.

This chemical doesn’t cause any intoxication or psychoactive properties. Those are caused by the other main chemical in cannabis: tetrahydrocannabinol; or THC for short.

Imagine this:

You’re sitting in your office chair for hours, or working on the job site in the hot sun.

You go to stand up.

Pain shoots down your lower back and into your legs.

You double over, howling in pain.

Of course, you can reach for Advil, Tylenol, or whatever other medicinal painkillers you can find.

But why pop a pill when you can try something all-natural?

What can CBD be used to treat?

Many people and doctors recommend using CBD oil for a variety of medical conditions.

CBD oil has been shown to help treat pain, reduce anxiety, and even help improve appetites. This is very similar to what marijuana can do. But, without the psychoactive effects, many will consider a “high.”

The lack of THC, combined with carrier oils like coconut oil or hemp seed oil eliminates that “high” sensation, while also reducing pain.

Anxiety

CBD also helps those who suffer from anxiety. CBD changes the brain’s receptors responding to serotonin. This will help your body react a lot better to the situations around them.

It’s even been shown to help those who suffer from social anxiety to give speeches!

CBD helps relieve anxiety by treating the following:

  • Reducing overall stress

  • Slowing increased heart rates

  • Allowing users to sleep (who suffer from insomnia)

A 600 mg dose of CBD is more than enough to help improve these symptoms.

Pain

While CBD can help treat anxiety by changing the brain’s receptors to serotonin, the same is done for pain.

CBD can treat pain by acting as an anti-inflammatory. Medical marijuana is already being prescribed to those with treatment-resistant pains. These pains are caused by cancers or diseases like MS.

A multiple sclerosis drug has even been developed and approved for use in the UK and Canada that combines CBD and THC. While it is treating MS, it’s also acting as an anti-inflammatory against the pain.

In a study done on rats, an oral CBD treatment was given and it greatly reduced the nerve pains in the rats.

There is only a little research, but great strides are being made.

Anti-acne

With CBD having positive effects on the immune system and helping with inflammation, CBD oil has benefits for acne management!

CBD oil helps produce a natural oily substance to help hydrate your skin. If there is too much of this oil, your face begins to break out!

Though it is important to always consult a dermatologist before considering using CBD as an acne treatment.

Epilepsy and Seizures

The drug Epidiolex, which is a plant-based formulation of CBD, was approved to help treat seizures. Studies done on CBD showed through several trials that the number of seizures was reduced by close to 44% in most people.

These studies have shown that CBD oil can help treat certain forms of epilepsy

CBD has shown to help more than these few ailments CBD has also helped with:

  • Cancer

  • Addiction

  • Autism

  • PTSD

  • Inflammation

  • Migraines

  • Eczema and other skin conditions

How to properly dose CBD oil

There is no proper dosage for using CBD oil, but these oils do contain a decent amount of CBD in total.

You’ll only need to use a small amount to achieve the results you desire.

With the dropper provided in the bottle, place a few drops under your tongue.

The area under your tongue is rich in capillaries so the CBD will hit your bloodstream quicker.

eye opening wide

Hold the drops there under your tongue for 30 seconds to a minute. Then you can swallow the oil and allow for the CBD to take effect.

If you want to try something new, you can even add CBD oil to a smoothie, juice, water, or even morning coffee!

If you add the oil to your coffee, the CBD oil will even take a bit of the edge off of your coffee!

You can even make a salad dressing with olive oil, CBD, and some lemons.

The proper dosage varies on the brand and strength of the oils.
